Funraising Activities

Wirraminna is a not-for-profit organisation.  It is a community owned facility and fundraising to support the residents  and programs, buy equipment and upgrade aspects of the facility are very important.  We value our volunteers and the community participation that helps us to do this.

In 2007, a community opportunity shop was established to support Wirraminna and its residents. It is our most valuable fundraising initiative, it is extremely popular with visitors travelling far to shop there. Most importantly the Op Shop has raised funds that have contributed to a gazebo, atrium and verandahs at Wirraminna.  It supports outings and programs for the residents and has enabled Wirraminna to purchase a Generator to provide backup during power blackouts and in emergency situations.

The Strawberry Fete is a fun annual fundraising activity which  brings together the community with our residents and their families to celebrate all things strawberry. With yummy strawberries, sizzling sausages, crafts, raffles, plants, amazing lamingtons, scones with jam and lashings of cream and other gourmet goodies, how could one not enjoy!

Wirraminna’s Forest Frolic, set in the beautiful forest environment of the Southern Barossa, is a wonderful night of music, wine and dancing with a four course dinner.  There was so much enthusiasm for this unique event that it has become our major  biennial fundraising event. What better way to raise funds for our Community owned, not for profit aged care facility than by having a unique night out with friends.  Please contact Abbeyfield for further information.
